FAQs
I’m new to digital commissions. How does this work?
To begin with, all you need to do is get in contact with me! I promise I’m nice and I’ll detail the steps for you as much as you need.
Typically, I’ll ask you to fill out a form - this contains essential details about your request such as the type of art, characters included, time frame, your budget if you have one, etc. In this form you’ll also have the opportunity to upload visual references, this helps me have more thorough understanding of your character(s) and their details.
After this, I will send you a quote and an approx. date of completion, and once you’re happy with that, an invoice for the deposit which is a non refundable 50%. Once this is paid I will start working.
I will then send you a sketch which should have most elements of your final commission in place - here you have an opportunity to double check me and ask for any edits you require. Once you accept this, I will invoice you for the remaining 50%.
Then I’ll send you your finished piece! At this point I’m still happy to make minor edits, colour corrections, etc, and once all is to your satisfaction I’ll give you an online link to download the full size image.
How long does it usually take to complete my commission?
Typically between 2 to 4 weeks, although this depends on my current queue size. I will always let you know what the wait times are when you get in contact with me.
I usually work on several pieces at the same time, so sketches for example might see quicker turnaround than fully painted scenes, but I always try to finish individual pieces in chronological order.
Are the prices on this website fixed?
No, they’re average estimates based on time spent on the type of the artwork.
I will always give you a personalized quote when you get in touch with me - and I’m happy to work with a budget of any size meaning there are many ways I can simplify or detail my work and I’ll endeavour to give you options on budgets that are different than the website example prices.
I know exactly what I want - can I get a fast track to your form please?
Yep, here’s the link: click
How do PayPal invoices work?
They’re sent directly from PayPal to your email, where you’ll have all payment options typical to PayPal’s system (ie. debit/credit cards or direct PayPal account transfers). All you need to do is click a button and it’ll take you through the typical payment interface.
You don’t need to enter or alter anything, the form will have the product and my business information.
All my art commissions are digital only so there’s no shipping address required.
How can I tip you?
Thank you! My invoices will have a slot on top where you can enter any custom tip. You can also send me tips separately once I’ve completed your piece at:
What is the licensing like for your commissions?
In the typical case my work comes with a limited use personal license - meaning it cannot be used in a commercial purpose or resold, altered, or edited. You are free to share/reshare/use for social media, or print for personal use such as to frame on your wall.
If you’re looking to commission me as a company, or for a for-profit venue (for example a magazine cover you’re selling or a banner for a monetized stream channel), let me know, and I’ll work out a commercial license for you.
Can I use your art?
Not unless you’ve been granted license to, ie. you’ve commissioned it for yourself. Unauthorized reuse for external websites is strictly prohibited.
In rare cases such as for nonprofits, charities, or certain personal use circumstances I may grant you explicit written permission, but unless you have this authorization please do not use, modify, or reupload my art anywhere as it’s protected by copyright.
Are you open for contract work, job offers, bigger project work, or unique commission types?
Yes! Please get in touch with me on my contact page or ares@exaltxix.co.uk
